Dr. Aron Vinegar is Professor and Director of History, Theory, and Criticism in the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design. His main areas of interest and publications encompass the history and theory of modern architecture, design, and the built environment; art history, visual studies, theory, and aesthetics; philosophical approaches to art and the built environment; history and theory of photography. These interests are driven by three constellations of concern: the relationships between habit, architecture, and dwelling; issues of suspended judgment and ontological indifference; and a commitment to counter-models of self-preservation, which often prescribe our approaches to subjectivity, community, and the built environment. Aron is the author of three books, four guest-edited journal issues, as well as articles, book chapters, and catalogue essays.
