Francisco Alvarado

Composer (Chile/France)

Francisco Alvarado (Spain, 1984) studied composition at the Catholic University of Chile and at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (Cnsmdp) with Stefano Gervasoni. His work focuses on the musical application of natural (and chaotic) models found in nature and the free instrumentation of dynamic and complex sounds.

Composition of a String Quartet

During his residency, Francisco Alvarado wrote a string quartet, commissioned by Diotima string quartet. It is a field of investigation that composers from all periods have explored, from Haydn to Lachenmann, going through Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, Ravel, Schoenberg, Berg, Janáček, Boulez or Nono, among others. In this piece, he wished to develop some aspects that he had explored in the evolution of his musical language.

Francisco Alvarado was in residence at the Camargo Foundation in 2017, as part of the Core Program.
