Juan Felipe Waller (1971) composer and performer, resides in Berlin since 2009. Born and raised in Mexico City in a blend of cultures of his Dutch and Mexican background, he then settled in Europe in 1994. The settings of his works vary from symphonic orchestra to chamber music and electronics often working with multimedia. An intrinsic Mexican mix of jestful and dark textures can be found in his music. Additionally his focus on sonorities akin to electronic sounds created by acoustic means, has lead him to explore new materials such as ceramics, plastics and recyclable materials. Waller’s works will often superimpose divergent elements, reflecting a quasi-Quixotic environment.
