”I’ve thought often about my 2016 residency at Camargo during the 2020 Coronavirus lockdown. Since my residency the south of France has become increasingly a center point in my life and my art practice and In fact, I am currently locked-down quite nearby in Marseille. Those two months in Cassis in 2016, looking regularly out my window at the ever-changing seascape each day were a sublime period for contemplation and reflection on the act of looking and listening deeply and with intention that have endured in my life and art practice. Much can be learned about nature, society, and ourselves by tuning into to the minuscule details of the everyday that most of us ignore as we move from task to task.

The 2020 lockdown has imposed on us all slowing down and reduced viewing field, which can at times be challenging, but for those who embrace it, can be incredibly nourishing to see our surroundings anew. I’ve taken this confinement period to look closely from my window-sill, at the poetry of light and shadow on still objects and the micro-drama’s and comedies of small human gestures, as we all ponder to imagine what’s next for our world."
