Laurent Pichaud +
Laurent Pichaud is a French choreographer and dancer. In his research, he focuses on the use of choreography within spaces that are not specifically dedicated to art and/or theater: site-specific practices, interactive performances, etc. He collaborates as a dancer, choreographer, assistant, and translator with Deborah Hay. This collaboration allows him to analyze the role of the literary field as a space of documentation and dance transmission. He is associate professor of the Dance Department of the Université Paris 8 and researcher artist of the Université Paul Valery/ICI-CCN of Montpellier, directed by Christian Rizzo.

Lucie Perineau +
Lucie Perineau is a French-American translator, who lives in Brussels. After her artistic studies, she obtained a degree in Translation at the European Center of Translation in Brussels. She works in publishing since the early 2000. She is the author of many translations about 20th-century and contemporary art, with a particular focus on the avant-garde. In 2008, she decides to broaden the scope of her work, making research about graphic design, the relationship between text and image, and the book as an object.
"My Body, the Buddhist" by Deborah Hay - An Increased Translation
The aim of this research is to update the literary specificity of American choreographer Deborah Hay, through the translation of her book My Body, the Buddhist (2000). Known for her experimentations during the choreographic avant-garde of the 1960s and still very active today, she is the author of four books (the last one published in fall 2015), twenty articles and fifteen textual dance notations, which prove, in their own way, the major role of writing as both a driving force and a tool of the choreographic process.
Laurent Pichaud and Lucie Perineau were in residence from November 10 to 20, 2015 in partnership with CND in Pantin, France, and Manufacture in Lausanne, Switzerland.
