Work spaces
The Camargo Foundation campus is crossed by a two-way street. There are therefore two "sides" to Camargo: the sea side and the Panorama side, each located on a different side of this street.
The Foundation includes twelve apartments, collective and individual working spaces
- A reference library, which includes a reference collection of more than 5,000 titles. The collection is classified according to the Library of Congress system and searchable via an online catalog : click here to access it. The library is a shared, collective space where residents can study and work. Several desks are available for residents in the library, that they can use all throughout their residency.
- An office studio, ideal for quiet office work. The office studio is adjacent to the library. It has a desk and a standard printer. This space can be used on an occasional basis by residents who need a quiet area to work on their own or to hold business meetings.
- An artist studio, always individually assigned to residents. The studio consists of a working space of around fifteen square meters, including two modular tables, a shelf, a sink and a toilet. The studio is adjoined by a darkroom that residents can use for photo development if they need to.
- A technical cabin, located on the seafront below the open-air theater. The technical booth is an individual workspace of around ten square meters, consisting of light technical equipment (desk, mixing desk, microphone, two speakers and cables).
- A composer’s studio, located on the first floor of one of the Foundation's individual maisonettes. The music studio has a piano and light technical equipment, a collection of Jérôme Hill's vinyl records and individual and group work spaces. It is used exclusively by residents living in the small house where it is located.
- An outdoor amphitheater which has welcomed exceptional events over the years, such as performances by Olivier Messiaen and the Living Theatre, amongst others.
- A collective outdoor, seafront terrace can accommodate collective meals and other activities. It offers a spectacular view of the harbor.
Computers & Internet
The Foundation does not provide laptops or any computer equipment. Residents are best served by bringing their own computers and any necessary software. Wi-Fi is available across most of the campus.
Note for artists
While Camargo can provide an artist studio, it is important to keep in mind that Camargo only offers research-based residencies, focused on research rather than production. The foundation does not cover shipping costs related to the transportation of artworks (to and from the Foundation), or of any material work that might be produced during the residency.
