Guillaume Monsaingeon

Guillaume Monsaingeon is a scholar and independent curator. Associate Member of the Norbert Elias research center, he teaches philosophy in Higher School Preparatory Classes (prépas) in Marseille. His works on Vauban and scale model (Les voyages de Vauban, la construction du territoire, 2007; Les plans en relief des places fortes du Roy, avec A. de Roux et N. Faucherre, 2007), have conducted him to organise several exhibitions on contemporary artistic cartographic practices: Mappamundi (Fondation Berardo, Lisbonne, 2011; Hôtel des Arts, Toulon, 2013), Alpha, beta, carta (Rentilly, 2014 ; Marseille 2015), Villissima ! (Toulon 2015), Island Time (Mucem, 2019), Des marches, démarches (Frac Paca, 2020). A founding member of OuCarPo, he was a member of the acquisition committee of the Frac Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur from 2015 to 2020.  He is currently working on a book on the cultural history of zenithal vision.
